OUR ISLAND
MENORCA
Menorca, our island – tiny in size yet grand in beauty and traditions such as cheese-making.
A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1993, this easternmost of the Balearic Islands is an example in sustainability due to its natural balance between humans and their environment.

OUR FARM
ALCAIDÚS
Our farm, Alcaidús, is one of the most extensive active livestock “llocs” (farms) in the Balearic Islands.
Boasting 270 hectares, 320 dairy cows and a team of 12 people, Alcaidús is a living example of authentic rural Menorca.
Southwards-facing to shelter from the Tramontana wind, the estate enjoys privileged views to the east and west due to its extraordinary size and strategic location on a small hilltop.

OUR CHEESE
MAHÓN-MENORCA

Our cheese, Alcaidús, bears Mahón-Menorca Protected Designation of Origin (DOP/PDO).
It is pressed cheese of a parallelepiped shape with rounded edges. This very peculiar profile makes it easily recognisable throughout the world.
OUR VALUES
FIVE
We have more than one brand value.
Alcaidús is a family farm that feeds its cows with fodder from the farm itself and the highest-quality grain ground in its own mill. We are a typical Menorcan “lloc”, producing all our cheeses using milk from our own freshly milked dairy herd. Cheese made from raw pasteurised milk – soft, semi-cured and cured – with a common denominator: a milder flavour than usual in cheese. Mahón-Menorca DOP (PDO).
